The Delaware Valley Wind Symphony is a recognized Pennsylvania non-profit organization. Its mission is to provide high quality live music and an opportunity for skilled musicians of all ages to perform, to foster and support music education by providing individual scholarships and grants to public music education programs.
The Delaware Valley Wind Symphony (DVWS) is a 60 piece wind symphony comprised of accomplished amateur and professional musicians from all walks of life residing in Bucks County. The DVWS performs symphonic music of the highest caliber for the enjoyment of audiences from the surrounding community.
Formed and incorporated in Pennsylvania in the summer of 2006, the DVWS received its non-profit IRS 501 (c) (3) status in the spring of 2007. Its charter includes the provision of scholarship monies to graduating music students in those schools where the DVWS performs.
Funding for those scholarships is raised through semi-annual membership dues, donations and concert ticket receipts. The DVWS has performed numerous concerts and has awarded scholarships to the Pennsbury High School Instrumental Music Boosters who awarded that scholarship to one of their deserving graduating music students. The other scholarship went to a Central Bucks East High School instrumental music student. Though initially small in amount, the DVWS hopes to grow these scholarship grants with increased ticket sales, donations and the receipt of grant funding.
