New members are added to fill vacancies or to achieve a balanced instrumentation. Recommendations from present members will be considered by the Music Director. Auditions are required through the section leaders, with the final decision being made by the Music Director.
The Music Director has final authority in maintaining the highest level of music excellence. Principal Chairs are decided by the Music Director and are based on proficiency, not seniority. When there is an abundance of talent, solos are distributed as determined by the Music Director and/or section leader.
Our season is divided into two semesters. September through December and January through May. We rehearse every Monday from 7:10pm to 9:15pm at the Council Rock North High School in Newtown, PA.
Regular attendance is expected. Members should notify either their section leader or the Music Director in the event of any absence. Irregular attendance may result in a forfeiture of concert performance for that semester, at the discretion of the Music Director. It is the responsibility of each member to bring their music to rehearsal whether they attend or not. If a member will not be at rehearsal, it is their responsibility to ensure that their music will be at rehearsal that evening.
There are typically two concerts per semester, which are held on Saturday evenings at various local venues. Concert attire for musicians is all black for ladies and dark suit, white shirt, and long tie for gentlemen.
Membership dues are $25/semester. Student members are exempt. Dues are to be paid by the 4th rehearsal of each semester.
